This evaluation examines the OCA’s response to the severe threat posed by Covid-19 to people everywhere, including in OCA’s offices; a threat that simultaneously jeopardised existing programming, carried the potential of a worldwide medical crisis, and disrupted core OCA habits in terms of travel, supply, transport, staffing, and security.

Depuis 2019, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) intervient dans la Zone de Santé de Salamabila, une région de la province du Maniema, en République Démocratique du Congo, confrontée à des défis critiques. Le contexte est marqué par une insécurité chronique, une présence humanitaire très limitée et des infrastructures défaillantes, qui accentuent la vulnérabilité des populations. Dans cette zone, les violences sexuelles (VS) constituent un problème de santé publique majeur, exacerbé par la présence de groupes armés et les déplacements de population.

HIV/AIDS is still a widespread epidemic, where the DRC has an average adult HIV prevalence of 1.2%, with an HIV prevalence of 1.6% in Kinshasa. 
MSF OCB works to care for people living with HIV, with activities in Kinshasa since 1993. Since 2002, to address the problem of access to HIV services, MSF launched an HIV project at Kabinda Hospital, a referral hospital southwest of Kinshasa (AIDS project), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.
In 2022, MSF commissioned a second evaluation of the decentralization component of the project, covering the period 2017 to 2022.

Improving the Availability and Use of SGBV Services in Central Kasai, DRC - Phase 1 Evaluation Report (in English and French)

The purpose of this evaluation is to provide an independent assessment of an international sample (n=10) of MSF’s Covid-19 DHP campaigns.

The purpose is to help generate evidence-based proposals for improved scenarios and examples of ‘good practice’ for future Ebola outbreaks. More generally, these findings will contribute to ongoing discussions around the roles and work of the organization within a changing global landscape.
